Do you love your plants so much that you consider not leaving for vacation to ensure their ongoing care? Run to book your coveted vacation with a clear heart, we tell you how to deal with your greenery to keep it healthy even in your absence.
With our targeted advice, you will ensure they get the right amount of water, moist but protected soil, enough light and oxygen for their survival and more!
Curious? Let’s get started!
Don’t leave them locked inside your home or they will wilt! Move them to the balcony, terrace or garden. But be careful, one place is not as good as another! Look for a shady corner, they should not be exposed to direct sunlight! Can’t find it and the whole outdoor area is too much sunlight?
No problem! Get those breathable nonwoven sheets from a specialty store and cover them thoroughly.
First, though, clean them up carefully: remove dried flowers and leaves to put new sap back into circulation.
Spread straw and bark on the potting soil so as to keep the soil moisture constant. But don’t fertilize them. During the summer period, plants need water to quench their thirst, not additional substances that might slow down their assimilation.
At this point, yes, you can place them outside your home. If you enjoy an automatic irrigation system, program it, otherwise “manufacture” it yourself!
It is as simple as that!
Grab an empty, 0.4 gal plastic bottle. Drill 2 or 3 very small holes in the cap. Fill it with water and close it again, check that it drips and place it in the first jar, as close to the stem as possible. Now you must also make a small hole in the bottom to facilitate the spillage and prevent the internal pressure from blocking the flow of liquid.
Proceed in this way for each of your seedlings.
This way you will ensure that your greenery is properly watered and also recycle plastic in an ingenious way!
Now, run quickly to pack your bags! A well-deserved rest awaits you!
