How to deep clean floors using baking soda

Baking soda is the item we encounter most often among various natural remedies! In fact, its powerful effectiveness is what is needed for so many household chores and also for taking care of household appliances. Today we will see together its use for an area of the house that is cleaned daily: the floors! Let’s find out how to use it to make floors fresh and super clean!

Natural detergent

The first thing you can do with baking soda is a natural detergent that will thoroughly clean and polish your floors! This is the best method so you can avoid waste and use it as needed whenever you need to clean the house.

Ingredients and process

Let’s get right to the ingredients and the process! In detail you will need:

  • 2 cups of water
  • 2 tablespoons of baking soda
  • Essential oil to your liking

That’s it, that’s all you need to make your cleaning eco-friendly, economical and most importantly effective! Dissolve the baking soda in the water and try to untangle any lumps that form. If you see that it tends to settle to the bottom, don’t worry, just shake the mixture before using it. Well, transfer everything to a bottle that is more convenient for you and add 6 drops of essential oil, I recommend lavender one.

Caution. Do not overdo the amount of essential oil otherwise the strong odor wafting through the house may disturb you.  Use a small cap of the product in the bucket with water every time you need to wash the floor.

For stubborn stains

Baking soda is great for making natural cleaners like the one we just saw, but let’s also see how to use it for stubborn stains on floors. When there is a stubborn type of dirt, all you will have to do is put a little bit of the product directly on a nonabrasive sponge and go to gently scrub the affected area. I recommend, however, not rubbing excessively and applying light pressure otherwise you might stain or scratch the floor.

Daily cleaning

Floors are elements of the home that you wash daily unlike other chores that can wait even more than a day. Well, every day, just 1 tablespoon of baking soda is enough to get the floor looking its best and as good as new! Pour it into the bucket with hot water, proceed with the washing and see what a result! Did you know. If you also add 1 teaspoon of organic soap you will have greater effectiveness and spread a fantastic scent.

Goodbye blackened joints!

One of the issues related to floors are the grout joints that tend to blacken with almost unbelievable speed. What to do to whiten them thoroughly? Simple, you will need our dear baking soda, and I’ll tell you right now how to use it! All you will need to do is mix 1 tablespoon of the product with water until it is the consistency of a gel. Spread the mixture on a toothbrush and scrub inside the joints so as to remove all the dirt. There they will be white and super clean!

Warnings

Try the baking soda first in unseen corners so you can make sure you don’t stain or damage the floor. Also, remember that it should always be diluted in water and never thrown directly on the tiles.
