How annoying can ants be in the home? This is an extremely intelligent animal, considering the species it belongs to, but equally harmful. This one manages to walk on the floor and on any type of furniture and easily “settles” in our homes. There are, however, a number of tricks based on natural products that can drive them away. Let’s see which ones.
Ants in the house: here’s how to keep them away
The first ingredient that is absolutely fantastic for the purpose is vinegar. This is a product that can be used in the kitchen as well as in other areas. Just put half a glass of it in the bucket for washing on the floor, along with some hot water and wipe the floor. Ants are particularly bothered by its smell! Be careful, however, because vinegar can damage marble and natural stone in general.
Another solution may be to resort to eucalyptus oil. We are talking about a plant that is normally endowed with a very strong and pleasant odor. for us Ants, in fact, hate the fragrance and instantly move away. Just put 3-4 drops of eucalyptus oil in the wash bucket and proceed-the ants will never return.
Like vinegar, lemon juice can be equally useful. In this case we should use a lemon juice, large, and put it all in the hot water in the bucket. You can also proceed by adding essential oil to the whole, to endow the solution with an even stronger scent. Remember, however, that like vinegar, lemon can be very harmful to certain floors.
Finally, we can take advantage of the action of another plant, mint. It too has an exceptional scent, which, however, is not loved by insects in general. We will have to prepare an infusion with 3-4 mint leaves in water and once everything is filtered, we can even intensify the smell with more essential oil. A super effective remedy against ants!
Alternatives :
Among the most interesting alternatives to mention are coffee grounds. These can be used as a kind of barrier: let’s use them in the corners of doors, for example. Talcum powder also has a repellent effect against these insects; similarly, cloves can be placed in the corners of the house to keep ants out. Finally, the oldest solution, salt. Just sprinkle it in the kitchen and that’s it; in some cases, it may also be necessary to sprinkle it in the bathroom.
