How to Prevent Cloudy Dishes in your Dishwashing

The benefits of having a dishwasher are increasingly appreciated because they prevent us from standing for hours washing dishes. However, this household appliance does not fail to give some little problems, such as halos on dishes, glasses and pots and pans after washing. There are many reasons for this phenomenon, but don’t worry there is a solution to everything! Today I’m going to give you all the tips you need to avoid getting halos after dishwashing!

There are several tricks to avoid getting halos after the dishwasher, but to start with here are some steps to take before putting the dishes in the basket. Usually all dishes are rinsed in order to better remove of residue, but this step in most cases is an endless waste of water, so you need to optimize it. Fill a sink basin with very hot water, juice of 1 lemon and 2 tablespoons of baking soda. Submerge each dishware in the tub and rinse with that water before putting in the basket so that the crumbs are well removed and any tough crusts are softened. Once this step is done, let’s see what to do in the dishwasher to never have halos again!

  • White vinegar

My first tip is to use white vinegar, which is perfect in cases like this! This natural and inexpensive product is fantastic in the kitchen for solving many small problems you encounter every day. In particular, it is great for polishing steel. You will simply need to fill a steamer 3 parts with vinegar and 1 part with water, then shake and spray all steel dishes, glasses and utensils. Start the wash, and when you open the dishwasher door, you will have no halos and won’t smell the slightest bad odor!

  • Lemon trick

Another trick you absolutely must know is the lemon trick! We are talking about an even cheaper remedy than vinegar, because all you need is a lemon that you used in the kitchen to have all your dishes shining! Lemon has many antioxidant properties and makes all surfaces you choose it on shiny, so it is great in our case. You will need to put the pressed lemon peels in the dishwasher basket and it will do the rest!

  • Baking soda

Baking soda is also worth mentioning among the perfect ingredients for no halos on dishes after washing! This trick is uniquely easy in that all you have to do is take a handful of baking soda and spread it on the dishes that usually come out with halos. Alternatively, you can make a mixture with 3 cups of water and 1 heaped tablespoon of baking soda, then spray it on the dishes and there you go. Doing so will also prevent that annoying white patina that often forms in the dishwasher.

  • Natural rinse aid

My last tip for having perfect dishes is to use a natural rinse aid! Preparing it is super easy, let’s look at this eco-friendly and inexpensive recipe now! Dissolve 1/3 lb of citric acid in 1 quart of water and add 1 glass of lemon juice, mix until you get a single solution. Now transfer to a bottle that you can keep on hand at all times and fill the appropriate tub with the mixture every time you wash. The results will be amazing!
