Remarkably Easy Ways to Create a Dust Free Home

Among the daily chores, we cannot fail to mention dust. The enemy of a home’s shine and cleanliness, dust is capable of creeping into even the most unlikely and unthinkable places! When you decide to remove it permanently, you must be prepared to devote a good part of the day to it. That is precisely why today we will look together at the secrets that not everyone knows about how to say goodbye to dust without too much effort!

DIY dust catcher cloths

The first solution not to make too much effort while removing dust is to have proper cloths!  Sometimes that’s exactly the problem because instead of trapping the dust, they only move it from one area of the surface to another. That’s why I recommend using dust-catching cloths that you can also make yourself, let’s find out how!

  • 5 cup of apple cider vinegar (or white vinegar)
  • 5 cup of warm water
  • 2 teaspoons of olive oil
  • Peels and juice of 1 lemon
  • An old sheet

First cut up the sheet and make a piece the size you need, then place it in an airtight jar and pour inside first the lemon peels (washed previously) and then all the other ingredients. Shake the jar to make sure that all the cloth gets soaked in the liquids you poured in; leave it like this overnight. The next day wring the cloth out thoroughly and let it dry in the sun: you have obtained your cloth! All you have to do is use it on all surfaces and the dust will be gone in no time.

Feather duster for high areas

The hardest thing sometimes is to get dust off the highest areas, think of high furniture and cabinets. When doing deep cleaning we start with these very areas, but the problem is that we find so much dust that it seems impossible to get it off. The right solution, then, is to remove the surface layer of dust on the high areas at least twice a week with a feather duster. That way when you go to do seasonal chores you will not find it too difficult!

  • Using vinegar

You may know that vinegar is a fantastic ingredient in the home and can really be used in every nook and cranny. You may not be aware, however, that it is an excellent and effective dust catcher! All you will need to do is fill a vaporizer half with water and half with vinegar (any type will do). You can then add a few drops of essential oil to keep the smell nice. Now all you have to do is spray the mixture on the surfaces and dry with dust catcher cloths!

  • Baking soda

Similar to vinegar, baking soda is also a great solution to say goodbye to dust effectively and quickly. All you need to do is fill a spray bottle with water and 1 tablespoon of baking soda, again you can add drops of essential oil. Spray it on the furniture and all the areas to be treated, and the dust will be gone in no time making up a lot of your time!

Remember that with each new use you must shake the bottle because the baking soda tends to settle to the bottom.

  • Sock Trick

Are you familiar with the sock trick? It is an old and timeless Grandma’s remedy that never goes out of style and is used for emergencies, but you can actually use it every day. Earlier we talked about dust-catching cloths, which are an extremely useful way to make every corner of your home shine again. However, if you don’t have that much time to prepare them, all you need to do is take an old sock, stick your hand in it and remove the dust! For this remedy you need the double terry sock. The double fabric of the sock will hold the dust without dropping it or moving it to other areas!

  • Toothbrush

You may be wondering what a toothbrush can be used for dust. Well, the answer lies in one word: corners of the house! There are some unreachable ones that waste a considerable amount of time, so why not save it by using an item we all have around the house? You will simply need to moisten the toothbrush with a drop of vinegar and swipe it over the affected areas very gently. Next put a dry cloth on the toothbrush to dry et voila, the corner will be as good as new!

  • For very narrow spaces

Always talking about very narrow spaces, there are some where even the toothbrush cannot reach. If you too have been wondering how to solve this little problem, I have just the solution for you! All you will have to do is take a Q-tip, dip it in baking soda or vinegar and swipe it in the areas where it is impossible to reach. This way you will have found an easy simple trick and goodbye fatigue!
