Rock salt against limescale:
One of the most useful functions of coarse salt is that of counteracting limescale. In fact, this product is very useful as an anti-scale and can be used both in the washing machine and in the dishwasher. We only need to dissolve three tablespoons of coarse salt in 0.5 quart of water; then add the juice of a lemon. At this point, we decant into a steamer and that’s it!
Fighting bad odors:
Another usefulness of coarse salt is to combat bad odors, erasing them almost completely. Its cleaning action is always combined with an ability to absorb unpleasant odors. All we need to do is put some salt in a small bowl and leave it in areas where bad odors begin to be detected. If desired, you can also add a few drops of essential oil. The result will be surprising! In addition to bad odors, rock salt is able to absorb moisture. Especially in winter and in very humid apartments, it can definitely be an interesting solution. Let’s use a jar filled with salt and place it in areas of the house where humidity is highest. When its action is effective we will notice that the salt will become more liquid.
Action of coarse salt on steel:
Not everyone may know that coarse salt is also able to fight stains and scale that are created on steel. In this case we should combine boiling water and a tablespoon of salt to make a kind of paste. We then spread the mixture on a sponge that is not abrasive and start rubbing it on the steel elements in the kitchen: they will appear super shiny!
Cleaning the floors:
Cleaning floors can also be done in an alternative way. Some surfaces can be cleaned with coarse salt, although care must be taken not to scratch the tiles! We place a tablespoon of coarse salt in a bucket of water and can already start washing. If we want, we can also insert drops of essential oil to scent it even more or Marseille soap.
